A mere 6 months after its launch from the Guiana Space Centre in Kourou, SES have announced that their new SES-15 satellite has reached its final orbital position and successfully completed all tests. SES-15 is a new generation Ku band satellite with HTS (High Throughput Satellite) capabilities.
The satellite provides an incredible amount of new bandwidth over the US (including Hawaii and Alaska), Canada, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. Gogo signed up to take advantage of new and existing satellites with SES in April of last year and is one of the premier customers on SES-15.
With over 500 aircraft already flying with our unique 2Ku dual antenna satellite system, more bandwidth will of course mean a better user experience, as well as plenty of additional capacity to serve the almost 1500 aircraft still in our backlog.
