Is the Gogo Inflight Mile High FourSquare badge the most coveted in the world?

When we launched our Foursquare badge back in 2009, it became in instant hit -- being able to show off your mile high jetsetting skills is reserved for the true connected frequent fliers. But with the success of our badge came a bit of a surprise -- people begging for others to get them the badge too.

FourSquare is a worldwide phenomenon, but Gogo Inflight is currently limited to the United States, and this means lots of people can't get the badge.

Normally, this wouldn't be a problem, as most people use the service to show off places they have actually been to, collecting badges from local venues or memories of a trip.

As with many other location based social tools, some users have mastered the art of location spoofing; being able to check in to locations in New York, while sitting behind their desk on the other side of the globe. Sadly for them, our badge can only be earned when you are connected to Gogo Inflight Wi-Fi on a plane.

Their solution? Beg others to check in for them! Any time you mention Gogo Inflight and FourSquare on Twitter, be prepared for an onslaught of people asking for your help. Whether you actually help them is up to you -- but we'd like to think that our badge is so important that only the real Gogo Mile High passengers are entitled to it.
