Gogo was recently ranked 960 out of 5000 in Inc.’s list of the fastest growing private companies.
Each year, Inc. lists the top 5000 fastest growing private companies in the U.S. They create the list by factoring in revenue growth for the past three years. To be considered for the list, companies need to have recorded revenues of more than $200,000 in 2009 and revenues of at least $2 million in 2011. In other words, a company doesn’t need to be large to be considered for the list.
What’s most impressive about this accomplishment is that when the list is filtered to only include companies with revenues higher than $100 million in 2011, Gogo ranks 38 in the U.S. and 4 in Illinois.
You can find the complete list here.
Gogo has signed an agreement with Intelsat S.A. for Ku satellite capacity specifically for coverage in the Atlantic and northern Pacific oceans, as well as routes over Central and South America, Asia, Australia and parts of Africa.
Combined with our recent deal with SES, this gives us global Ku capacity for our current airline partners. Gogo signed a multi-year, multi-transponder contract to use Ku-band satellite capacity on Intelsat 19, 21, 22 and 27. By partnering with Intelsat, Gogo will provide reliable and seamless coverage internationally. This will be avaliable starting in early 2013.
Gogo announced August 28th,2012 that Industry Canada has issued us a subordinate license for Canada’s ATG radio frequency spectrum that will allow Gogo to serve passengers on commercial and business aircraft flying over Canada. The Canadian network will operate on the same frequency as Gogo’s existing ATG network in the continental United States, which will allow Gogo to provide seamless service on cross-border flights. “This license will allow us to offer seamless connectivity service for both our commercial and business airline partners operating between the U.S. and Canada”, said Michael Small, Gogo’s president and CEO. “Airline passengers traveling in Canada can soon experience the same technology that has proven track record of performance, reliability and scalability in the U.S.”
We will begin cell site construction in the fourth quarter of this year and expect the network to be in operation by the end of 2013. Gogo’s Canadian license is subordinate to a primary spectrum license that was acquired at auction in 2009 by SkySurf Canada Communications Inc. Gogo won the comparable U.S. spectrum in 2006.
Having previously partnered with eBay to help promote our new in-air multi-media platform, it is no surprise to announce that passengers who fly on all Gogo equipped planes on Delta Air Lines and Virgin America will now enjoy free access to eBay.
Passengers will have unlimited access to eBay through Gogo’s new multimedia platform, which will allow them to shop the more than 300 million listings on the site. “By partnering with eBay, passengers can now shop a wide selection of listings on the site from 35,000 feet,” said Ash ElDifrawi, Gogo’s chief marketing officer. “eBay joins a growing list of top shopping and e-commerce sites that can be found on Gogo’s multimedia platform; all of which can be accessed for free simply by connecting to Gogo and launching your Internet browser.”
Gogo’s enterprise team hit the floor of the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) convention in Boston fresh off an announcement that Concur Travel will soon integrate Gogo into their travel management system so business travelers can purchase Gogo sessions within Concur’s travel booking experience.
In addition to sponsoring the show, Gogo was named a finalist in the 3rd Annual Fast Company and GBTA’s Business Travel Innovation Awards.
More than 400 companies are exhibiting in this year’s GBTA exposition, representing a variety of industry segments, including hotel and hospitality, travel services, airlines, transportation services and technology. Each exhibitor will showcase and demonstrate new products and services aimed at improving the business travel experience and streamlining travel management. The GBTA convention offers Gogo the opportunity to connect face-to-face with thousands of travel managers and industry suppliers
Gogo announced on July 20th 2012, that it has extended its contract with United Airlines and will work with UA to upgrade its p.s. fleet to ATG-4. Gogo expects to begin installation of the upgraded equipment in early 2013.
“Passengers on board United’s p.s. fleet have long enjoyed Gogo’s in-flight Internet service and these routes have grown to be some of the most popular routes for connectivity related services,” said Michael Small. “By upgrading to ATG-4, Gogo will be able to better address the growing demand for Internet access on these flights now and in the future.”
United’s p.s. fleet consists of 13 Boeing 757 aircraft that operate between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport or San Francisco International Airport. Gogo and United have offered connectivity services aboard the p.s. fleet since January 2009. The full press release can be found here.
Gogo announced on July 18,2012 an exciting partnership with online corporate travel company Concur.
With this agreement, Concur will offer an easy purchase path for our services, allowing corporate travelers to instantly add a Gogo session to their business trip.
Passengers who fly United will now be greeted by Gogo’s new Multimedia Platform when they connect through Gogo in air. United is the final airline to be upgraded to Gogo’s new version of the platform.
Delta was the first airline to launch with the new version of the platform back in October of last year. The platform was rolled out across 8 of Gogo’s airline partners in less than 10 months including AirTran and Frontier two weeks ago.
The new platform has enabled Gogo to more successfully work towards its mission of becoming everyone’s favorite part of flying.
